Cupcakes for an "8 is Great" Birthday!

Happy Birthday Kathryn!
Cupcakes are chocolate and vanilla with a vanilla buttercream frosting. I used a Russian Ball Piping Tip for the flower and a yellow candy melt for the center. Tinker Bell fairy wings hand piped by my assistant Emma-Lea.

Cupcake Thursday! Practicing with new Russian Piping Tips

Have you seen these new Russian Piping tips the ones with the ball tips? I just received mine in the mail. I decided to try them out this morning. Not wanting to waist expensive ingredients on practicing I used canned frosting. The consistency was a little to soft but worked ok, but I don't recommend using canned frosting for a finished product. I watched a few tutorials on YouTube and found them educational. I found the tips easy to use after some practice. Also I think the little tins they came in are cute. I ordered my tips on Amizon.

Dad's Blueberry Cake Cupcakes

Many years ago my family was on vacation at my Grandparents camp in Ellsworth Maine on Branch Pond. It happened to be my Mother's Birthday. My father made her a blueberry cake with lemon glaze. It was so delicious that it became a family favorite. My sister and I have adapted the recipe in to Cupcakes with a lemon butter cream frosting. The recipe was found in an old antique cookbook my Grandma B.D. kept on the shelf in the kitchen of the camp.

Maple Chocolate Chip Cupcakes

My husband Ernie asked me to make cupcakes for the potluck he is attending to celebrate the end of his ethics class. He is very successfully working on his MBA. So I decided to make Georgetown Cupcakes Maple Chocolate Chip Cupcakes from their cook book The Cupcake Diaries. The recipe said it made 12 cupcakes but it made 24. I topped them with a whipped chocolate ganache frosting.

Olivia and Jeffrey's Wedding Cupcakes.

My twin sister Jen and her husband Jim's oldest daughter Olivia got married to a very nice young man Jeffrey Craft. Over the weekend they held a reception in their honor. My sisters and I made over a hundred cupcakes for the event. The flavors were Banana Cream Pie, Maine Blueberry Lemon, Double Chocolate, and Almond Fresh Raspberry. My job was to make all the butter cream frosting and decorate them. My dad made the rustic tiered cupcake stand. A friend of my sister, Melanie Barrick made the beautiful birch tree cake. Altogether it was a great collaboration. The end result was beautiful!!!

This is the recipe I followed, I used butter instead of Crisco and vanilla in the cupcakes.
